1. When
I was little my parents had a nanny come and take care of me and my two
brothers. My parents would leave in the morning my mom would work a half day
and come back around 2 pm so that she could be with my brothers and I while my
dad would usually come home between 5:30 pm and 6:00 pm.
2. From
what I can remember I really enjoyed my early educational experience. I
pre-school and a young fives program before starting kindergarten.
3. The
preschool I went to was a lot of fun it was a small place with six classrooms
and two young fives classrooms and two split play grounds for the younger
children and the ones getting ready to go to kindergarten. I don’t exactly
remember what we did in class but I do remember playing a lot of games and
singing songs.
4. I
liked the fact that our parents were encouraged to participate at certain times
and that we became close to the teacher and made some good family friends out
of my classes. One thing I remember not enjoying was the snack time, there was
set snacks because of children having allergies, so when they stopped allowing
us to bring our own snacks I got fussy, but I got over it eventually and just
did not eat if I did not like it.
Hi Samnang,
ReplyDeleteHow was the experience of having a nanny? Did you and her have a close bond? It is great that your mom was able to work half days so that she could get home and spend time with you and your brothers. I work at a Montessori School and some parents drop off their children at 7 or 8 and do not pick them up until 5:30 or 6;30, crazy!! Sounds like your preschool environment was very pleasant, minus the yucky snacks. Thanks for sharing :)

Samnang,
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like your parents were able to atleast have a decent schedule in order to be home and spend time with you and your brothers. Like you, I participated in 3 & 4 year old preschool prior to entering kindergarten which was a good preparation since I was with kids that ended up being in school with me throughout elementary and middle school. That's exciting and I like that the program you participated in encouraged parents to participate and be engaged as well.
Samnang,
ReplyDeleteI love when parents are invited to have some sort of participation with their children at school. Children are definitely different at school than they are at home. It really allows the parents to experience the progress they are making as individuals. I also thing that they parents would really find it entertaining and fun to have a hand in the system! I would love when my parents (or grandparents) would come and eat lunch with me or help out with a play at school. I would get incredibly excited to have them around!
Haha! I totally remember the snack fiascos that happened in early elementary. I was one of those unfortunate kids who had allergies and sugar issues. I'm sorry that made your snack time bad! :(. I was only allowed to have white milk and sugar-free [stuff]. So in retrospect, I also hated it...
The split classrooms and playgrounds is an interesting situation. I suppose it is beneficial so that there are less children getting hurt and the children can really get to know their own classmates. I'd like to see how this works more as well.
